About Us

Sheffield StinGS is the University of Sheffield’s Scout and Guide society. We’re open to anyone with an interest in Scouting or Guiding, regardless of whether you are, or ever have been, a member of either organisation. We’re part of SSAGO (the Student Scout and Guide Organisation), which is affiliated to both The Scout Association and Girlguiding UK with branches in universities all over the country.

We have a dynamic and exciting programme, featuring a huge range of activities. We truly will give anything a go, with popular favorites including climbing, ice skating, and our annual baking competition. There really is something for everyone!

Many of our members volunteer with Scout Groups and Guide units in Sheffield, so if you want to get involved with volunteering we have plenty of contacts. We also help out at several district Scout events through the year, which is both great fun and an excellent way to give back to the local community.

How to Join

If you are interested in joining us, or would just like to find out more information, email us at stings@sheffield.ac.uk or visit our Facebook page or group!

While most our members are from The University of Sheffield, students of Sheffield Hallam University are always welcome! Hallam also has their own SSAGO group, HUGS, although we do run some joint activities each year.
