Sheffield StinGS is the University of Sheffield’s Scout and Guide club. We’re open to anyone with an interest in Scouting or Guiding, regardless of whether you are, or ever have been, a member of either organisation. We’re part of SSAGO (the Student Scout and Guide Organisation), which is affiliated to both The Scout Association and Girlguiding UK with branches in universities all over the country.
We meet every week during term time, with a different activity every week. Our members can suggest any activities they wish to do and the committee will try and fit it into the programme. In the last year our activities have ranged from bouldering to bowling, from nights at the Union to knotting and knitting, so if you want to join a society that does a lot of different things, StinGS is the society for you!
If you want to get involved with local Scouting or Guiding on a more direct level — as many, but by no means all, of our members are — we can also help put you in touch with the relevant people. See our Service page for more details.
How to Join
If you are interested in joining us, or would just like to find out more information, email us or join our facebook group!
Although most of our members are students at The University of Sheffield, we also welcome members from Sheffield Hallam University!
